Simple CAD Construction and its Applications

چکیده

The method of quantifier elimination by cylindrical algebraic decomposition (CAD) takes a formula from the elementary theory of real closed fields as input, and constructs a CAD of the space of unquantified variables. This decomposition is truth invariant with respect to the input formula, meaning that the formula is either identically true or identically false in each cell of the decomposition. The method determines the truth of the input formula for each cell of the CAD, and then uses the CAD to construct a solution formula—a quantifier-free formula that is equivalent to the input formula (see Collins, 1975; Collins and Hong, 1991; Hong, 1992). Simple equivalent formulas can be constructed from a truth-invariant CAD (see Hong, 1992; Brown and Collins, 1996), which motivates the consideration of both quantified and unquantified input formulas. There are other uses for this truth-invariant CAD as well, such as determining the topology of the input formula’s solution space or producing a visualization of the solution space. Often there will exist a “simpler” truth-invariant CAD than the one produced by the method.

Semantic 3D CAD and Its Applications in Construction Industry â•fl An Outlook of Construction Data Visualization

In response to the need of using electronic design data directly in construction management applications, many CAD developers have started implementing semantic data models in their CAD products using industry foundation classes (IFCs). While helpful, these semantic CAD applications have limitations when used in actual construction practices. The case studies in the thesis indicated that: 1) th...

Web-enabled Model-based Cad for the Architecture, Engineering and Construction Industry

Computer-aided design (CAD) applications have been widely used in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry to aid architectural design, to visualize the physical appearance of a building, and to specify design details for building construction and operations. As web technology continues to grow rapidly and the Internet becomes ubiquitously accessible, the ability to interac...

Trends of 4D CAD applications for construction planning

Since the early 1990s, there has been a growing interest in four-dimensional computer aided design (4D CAD) for construction project planning. Commercial 4D CAD applications are becoming more accessible and the use of this technology allows the construction planner to produce more rigorous schedules. A review of the technical competencies of these packages highlights that most of the commercial...

Design, Modeling, and Construction of a New Tactile Sensor for Measuring Contact-Force

This paper presents the design, modeling, and testing of a flexible tactile sensor and its applications. This sensor is made of polymer materials and can detect the 2D surface texture image and contact-force estimation. The sensing mechanism is based on the novel contact deflection effect of a membrane. We measure the deflection of the membrane with measuring the strain in the membrane with emb...
